I have loved to cook since I was very young. I am always on a quest for the best recipe of whatever I am interested at the time. One of those things is a brownie.
A brownie so moist sits upon the plate it barely keeps it shape. Ooey, gooey, accompanied with a cold glass of milk, be honest there isn’t a better dessert… it’s chocolate. Now a chocolate torte is also one of those ultimate, oh so chocolate things. Therefore combining a brownie and a torte seemed like a good quest to conquer. After cooking and changing, altering, and subtracting I came up with a recipe that satisfies my idea of what a chocolate torte brownie should taste like.
Most brownies, bars or cookies recipes can be split into sections. This one is no exception. The list below organizes the process a bit and makes it more efficient, therefore faster.
1 1⁄2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
6 extra-large eggs
3 tablespoons instant coffee powder
2 tablespoons real vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups sugar
1 pound butter
4 1/4 cups semisweet chocolate chips,
6 ounces unsweetened chocolate
1. preheat oven to 350 and grease a 13x18x1.5 sheet pan lined with an extended rim of aluminum foil, just in case we have a melt over.
2. add your flour, salt and baking powder and mix it together in a bowl and set aside
3. in another bowl, crack your eggs, add the instant coffee, vanilla and sugar and combine. Set aside
4. melt your butter in the microwave then
5. combine butter with all the chocolate chips and squares in a double boiler. Melt.
Now that you have your flour bowl, egg bowl and melted chocolate then we get a really big bowl.
Add a bit of the chocolate to the egg mixture and combine then and the rest in and mix. Get the flour bowl and mix that into the batter. Pour into the prepared sheet pan and bake for 30 minutes testing with a toothpick so it comes out without what seems to resemble batter sticking to it. Adjust time according to your oven. Cool and cut into squares.
If you wanted to add nuts sprinkle them on top prior to putting the sheet pan in the oven
